WHEN ARE YOU OPEN?

The site is open from 9am – 10pm with the first session starting at 9am. To see all available times of sessions, simple click on the book now button and an availability calendar will be displayed.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The price depends on which variation of the experience you want to do and when you want to do it. For an exact price, select the experience you want on our booking page along with how many people it is for, and it will show you the price per person. Don’t forget, we regularly run offers so why not sign up to our newsletter to get the offers emailed directly to you!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Junior and Original Experience – You will receive a mission update within a secure briefing room where you will be briefed on the exact objective. requirements of the mission and resources at your disposal. After briefing, you will be wired for communications before having a period of time to conduct surveillance to help you plan the mission using a variety of high tech equipment, all under the watch of one of our support Agents who is available in case of any unexpected problems.
Take notes and ask questions, once the mission goes live you’re on your own!

Once the plan has been developed, tweaked and changed multiple times, you are then against the clock to execute the time sensitive mission. If you have planned well it should be easy, if not, you may face unexpected problems and obstacles along the way.

Extreme Experience – Before receiving your mission briefing, you will first spend 2 hours with our support agent who will train you areas such as weapons handling, fire and manoeuvre as well as room clearance techniques and man down drills. This is all light-hearted and designed to be fun for everyone whilst teaching you some basic skills and helping you to work better as a team so that you are ready for what comes next! There certainly won’t be any ‘militaristic’ shouting; you’re not in the army!

WHAT ACTIVITY IF ANYTHING IS THIS SIMILAR TO?

This is a new type of activity and is effectively a breakout or escape room….in reverse….and which involves planning! It can however be thought of in a similar way to the films such as Mission Impossible, Oceans 11, The Heist, The Bank job and Entrapment with challenges like The Crystal Maze, Fort Boyard, Krypton Factor or The Cube.

HOW LONG DOES THE EXPERIENCE LAST?

Unlike Escape rooms which can be seen as being a similar experience, The ‘Junior’ and ‘Original’ experiences last around 2 hours and the ‘Extreme’ experience lasts around 4 hours! The exact time depends on how quickly your team complete the objective. You are of course more than welcome to arrive earlier or stay later and make use of our Café area, however, this is the length of time that the activity lasts for.

HOW HARD IS IT?

Now there’s question! It’s fair to say that some teams find it harder than others, however, around 75% of teams complete the experience within the time frame. No particular skills or physical ability is required, and good common sense goes along way! Instructions are signs are however in English, so a basic level of English is required. We know how frustrating it can be if you really ‘don’t get something’, so if you become completely stuck, we might give you a hint in the right direction!

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN TAKE PART?

A minimum of four people are required to ensure there are sufficient people for you to be able to complete the various tasks. The maximum group size at any one time is eight. Groups of more than eight can be accommodated by splitting the group into smaller ‘sub’ groups with one group having a go at a time. We have a café for those waiting to for their go and also have other activities on site such as our R.A.P.T.O.R range for anyone wishing to take part in another activity.

WHO IS THE EXPERIENCE FOR?

The experience is designed with a wide range of people in mind and groups can be made up of friends, family, colleagues and students to name a few and can include a mixture of ages, sexes, nationalities and personalities; a varied group will bring varied experiences and can only help complete the objective sooner!

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?

No, however, we do have recommended ages for each of the experiences. If under 10’s are taking part in the experience a paying adult must accompany them. If under 14’s are taking part in the experience, a paying adult must accompany them or remain on site at all times.

WHAT IF I HAVE A RANGE OF AGES/ABILITIES OR ARE A FAMILY?

If you are unsure as to which variation would be best for you and your group, we would always advise you to contact us to discuss your options, however, both the junior and original variations involve very similar activities with the junior one excluding harder or more physically involved puzzles which are contained within the original variation for older children and adults. We very much welcome and encourage families and when a family does attend, there is no minimum age limit as the parent/guardian will be responsible for deciding whether their child is capable of undertaking the specific problems/task/puzzle and dependant on the age and ability of any children. Either the junior or the Original experience can be selected
Junior – Recommended age of 10-14

Those under 10 years old may also take part, however, must be accompanied by a paying adult over 18. If any participants are under 14 years old, an adult over 18 must remain onsite throughout the duration of the experience. If you have a mixed age group or a family, those over 14 can also join in. The choice of whether the ‘Junior’ or ‘Original’ experience is best suited to you will therefore come down to how able you believe any children to be.
Original- Recommended age of 14 years or older.

If any participants are under 14 years old, an adult over 18 must remain onsite throughout the duration of the experience.
Extreme – Advised age 16+. As the extreme version uses pyrotechnics and a variety of training weapons, this experience is only available to group’s when all participants are over the age of 14.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

All of our experiences are indoors, however, at certain times of the year it can be a little cold (despite the heating) due to the experience being in a commercial warehouse and the great British weather; a degree of clothing in case of this eventuality is therefore advised. The experience may involve some movements such as crawling or climbing over small items (optional), so we wouldn’t recommend hot pants and stilettos, however, casual clothing would be fine.

WILL I BE LOCKED IN A ROOM? IS IT CLAUSTROPHOBIC?

Unlike some escape rooms, you will not be locked in any room and are free to move around the planning area and game zone as you wish and as the experience is multi roomed, you should never feel enclosed. Some challenges may be accomplished more easily by entering a small space, however, as this experience is for groups, hopefully someone will be up for the challenge!

CAN I TAKE PART IF I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION AND /OR DISABILITY?

There are so many medical conditions and disabilities that it’s impossible to give a simply yes or no answer. The range is designed to be as wheel chair friendly as possible and we try to accommodate everyone who wants to attend. An example is that all of the doorways are enlarged to allow increased ease for wheel chair users, we can adjust the shooting point height and have bipods and other devices to help support the markers if required. We do however advise anyone who has a question relating to a particular medical condition and/or disability to contact us.

ALLERGIES AND DIETRY REQUIREMENTS

If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please speak to our staff once on site or if booking food as part of your package, please either call or email us. All manufactured items display the ingredients list on them and you can request a full list of ingredients for any item that we have made/packaged.

I’M PREGNANT, CAN I STILL JOIN IN?

Absolutely, you know your body better than anyone else and you know what you can and cant do. Some aspects of the ‘Junior’ and ‘Original’ experience have challenges which require a degree of climbing/crawling/flexibility which we would not recommend that you take part in, however, as you will be in a team, someone else can do that bit! We would however NOT recommend the ‘Extreme’ experience for those that are heavily pregnant due to the more physical nature and fast paced atmosphere of the experience.

 ALPHA OPS BOOKING FAQ’s

DO I HAVE TO BOOK?

Yes, unfortunately, we are unable to accept ‘walk-ins’. We are however able to accept bookings on very short notice (dependant on availability) so please contact us and we will do our very best to fit you in!

CAN I MAKE A BOOKING AND PAY ON THE DAY?

No, unfortunately payment must be made at the time of booking. We do however allow a deposit to be paid to secure your preferred booking slot which is refundable to allow you time to collect the remainder of the amount due from those coming with you. If you have just found us at the last minute, can’t wait to have a go and would like to book for the same day, give us a call on 01633 270983 and we can let you know if we have any availability.

I JUST ACCIDENTLY BOOKED THE WRONG DATE/TIME, WHAT DO I DO?

Don’t worry, these things happen, just contact us by phone or email within 24 hours and we will happily amend your booking to the time/date you wanted as long as it is still available.

CAN I CHANGE MY BOOKING TO A DIFFERENT DATE/TIME?

We understand that things change and sometimes you may need to change the booking to a different time or date. Changes are permitted up to 31 days before the booked session at no cost, however, after this point no changes can be made as we need to effectively plan ahead to ensure sufficient staff and resources are available.

CAN I ADD AN EXTRA PERSON TO MY BOOKING?

Absolutely, you can add an extra person to the booking as long as it doesn’t make the group size above the maximum allowed. You can do this free of charge online up to 31 days before the session or if it is within this time, it would be great if you could let us know, however, any extra people are welcome to join you on the day and pay when they arrive.

CAN I CHANGE WHO COMES?

When making a booking, we do ask for the names of those attending, however, if you would like to change a name due to for instance someone no longer being able to attend, you can do this online up to 31 days before the session free of charge. After this time, we would ask that you contact us by email to let us know or if it is that short notice, the person is welcome to come along and we can mak the change on your arrival.

CAN I GET A REFUND IF SOMEONE DOESN’T TURN UP?

Unfortunately, not, we do not provide refunds if someone does not turn up on the day, however, we do allow their space to be filled by someone else as long as they have arrived by the start of the session.

WHAT IF THE NUMBER IN MY GROUP DECREASES?

We understand that organising other people can be difficult, however, it is a requirement that all group bookings are for a minimum of four people. If there are last minute cancellations which bring your group size to below this minimum, the session can either:
Be cancelled- no refund will be provided
Continue – We believe the experience is best with four or more people so less than this may hamper certain aspects of the session, however, we will still do our best to provide the best possible session. If you choose to continue with less than the minimum number of people, no refunds will be given for anyone who did not attend.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE?

That depends on how late the group or individuals are. Although we understand that things happen, we have a strict late policy that we adhere to in order to make sure all groups get the same amount of time on the activity and attention from our staff. Groups that show up on time should not be penalised because a group before them was late. Dependant on if it is the whole group or individuals that turn up late will depend on what will happen and is outlined below for each eventuality:
• Whole group arrives less than 30 minutes late
In this instance, the group will still be permitted to take part in the experience, however, must understand that the game time will be decreased and they may not get the full experience. The session will not be refunded and the booking cannot be moved to another date/time.
• Whole group arrives more than 30 minutes late.
Once a group is 30 minutes late, they will have been deemed as a ‘no show’. In this instance, no refund will be provided and the experience cannot be rescheduled. If the group does however still arrive, they will not be permitted to enter the game area as there will be insufficient time to be briefed and take part in the experience.
• Individual/s arrive less than 30 minutes late
If at least the minimum number of people for the experience have arrived on time, however, an individual or individuals have not, the group may begin the experience without them or choose to wait.
1. If a group chooses to wait, the group may only wait for a maximum of 30 minutes of forfeit their booking. If this occurs then the session will not be refunded and the booking cannot be moved to another date/time.
2. If the group start without an individual or individuals and they subsequently arrive, they will only be permitted to join the group if they have arrived less than 30 minutes after session was due to start
Once an individual or individuals are 30 minutes or more late, they will have been deemed as ‘no shows’. In this instance, no refund will be provided and the experience cannot be rescheduled. They will of course still be permitted to wait for the group in our waiting area, however, will not be permitted to enter the game area as there will be insufficient time to be briefed and take part in the experience.

FACILITIES, ACCESSIBILITY AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

CAN WE EAT/DRINK AT THE VENUE?

We do have a small café on site where participants are welcome to purchase food, however, only food/drink purchased on the premises may be consumed. Our café sells a variety of freshly prepared rolls, baguettes, panni’s, burgers as well as other snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. There is a strict no alcohol rule onsite and participants must not be under the influence of alcohol when they are on site. We are however very close to bars and restaurants as well as the evening entertainments of Newport City and are only a short drive to Bristol and Cardiff.

HOW DO I FIND YOU/ GET TO YOU AND WHAT’S PARKING LIKE?

To see exactly where we are located and the nearest public transport links, just have a look on our contact us page. Once you have made it to us, there is a large free of charge car park directly outside.
We have ample free parking and ideally located less than 10 minutes from Junction 24 of the M4 making us only:
• 5 minutes from Newport retail park
• 10 Mins from Newport City centre
• 30 mins from Cardiff city centre
• 30 mins from Bristol city centre
• 1 hr to Swansea
• 1 hr to Gloucester
• Within an hour’s drive of some of the best holiday, caravan and camping sites in South Wales and Somerset!

IS THEIR DISABLED ACCESS? DISABLED FACILITIES?

Our experience is based within a commercial warehouse, however, we have tried to make it as ‘disable friendly’ as possible. The game area has been designed to be as wheel chair friendly as possible with widen doors and the tables in the waiting room have space for a wheel chair user to sit with their group. We also have a disabled toilet, however, unfortunely this is located within the men’s toilet due to the physical limitations of the warehouse; If any ladies require the use of this toilet, please contact a member of staff and we will happily assist you.
Although we do have a disabled toilet, we unfortunely do not have a changing places toilet or assisted adult changing room; we apologies for this, however, due to commercial nature of the building, it was not designed with these in mind.

CAN I BRING MY BABY?

Absolutely, although our experiences are not appropriate for very young children to take part and the environment can be very noisy, we understand that sometimes there may be a need for baby to come along as well. Sadly, we do not have a dedicated baby changing area or feeding room, however, we support a mothers wish to breast feed and can provide a private space if required. We are equally happy for mother to breast feed in public, however, would ask that consideration is given to using a cover-up, sling or blanket.

I REQUIRE ADDITONAL SUPPORT, IS THAT OK?

We allow carers to accompany customers with disabilities in the game area free of charge and also allow assistance dogs in all customer areas.

ARE THERE ANY FLASHING LIGHTS?

A variety of items are used to create the atmosphere including smoke, music, and lighting which will flash. We do not routinely use strobe lighting, however, if this is a concern, please contact us prior to booking and inform the staff on arrival.

DO YOU HAVE A MEETING ROOM?

Yes, as well as our large meeting area which has benches and is used by all participants at the venue, we also have two meeting/training rooms on the 1st floor; and is accessed by stairs. This can be booked if you would like a private space before/after your experience or to hold a meeting/training before or after.

DO YOU DO PARTIES?

Yes, as well as our large meeting area which has benches and is used by all participants at the venue, we also have two rooms (one larger and one smaller) on the 1st floor which are accessed by stairs. This can be booked as a party room and you can either bring your own food/drink, or we can provide these for you. Please contact us if you would like further details and pricing.
